SS Aachen 1915

Deep beneath the Baltic Sea lies a haunting relic of history: a cabin aboard the Aachen, a 19th-century steamship sunk by a torpedo in July 1915 during World War I. Once a bustling vessel, the Aachen met its tragic end when struck by a British submarine, sending it to the ocean floor.

Remarkably preserved by the Baltic’s cold, low-oxygen waters, this cabin—complete with furniture and eerie details—offers a frozen glimpse into life over a century ago. 

One of thousands of wrecks in this underwater graveyard, it stands as a silent testament to the perils of war and the sea’s power to preserve the past.
