Construction of the sixth 86-meter ammonia-ready robotic vessel ordered by Houston-based marine robotics company Ocean Infinity has begun at Vard Vung Tau shipyard in Vietnam.

Vard Vung Tau officially started building vessel No 958 on July 8, 2024, marking the first milestone for the last unit in the new series of six multi-purpose offshore vessels.

Ocean Infinity placed an order for the construction of the new series of 86-meter robotic vessels in February 2022.

All units in the new series will be operated from shore and eventually utilize green ammonia as fuel.

The vessels are scheduled for delivery from Vard Vung Tau in 2025.

The order marked the next phase of Ocean Infinity’s Armada fleet development which kick-started back in 2020.

The first series of eight 78-meter ammonia-ready Armada vessels was completed with the delivery of the final unit in January 2024.

The vessels are prepared for green ammonia as a fuel with fuel cell and battery technology and are designed for an ultra-low carbon footprint. They will serve as multi-role vessels, supporting Ocean Infinity’s operations worldwide from its control centers.
